Werrington store boosts local causes

There was plenty to celebrate on Saturday at the Loxley Co-op as local groups benefitted from its Local Community Fund.

Cheques were presented to The Village Playgroup, Sue Ryder, Froglife and and all those present enjoyed tea and cakes.

This Playgroup, based at the Village Centre in Church Street, received more than £2,200 alone to help re-vamp its outside play areas.

Across the country Co-op raised £20million for local causes and in total the three local causes shared £7,592.16.

The Village Playgroup received £2356.37; Froglife received £2,241.94; and Sue Ryder received: £2993.85

The next round of funding from the Local Community fund will be William Law Primary School, Werrington Primary School and Paston Scouts.
