UPDATE: Peterborough amber weather warning cancelled - but yellow warning still in place as rain continues to fall

An amber weather warning for heavy rain in Peterborough has been cancelled – but a yellow warning remains in place for the rest of today.
Yesterday (Sunday) the amber warning was put in place for today by the Met Office, as heavy rain was forecast for Peterborough.

Hide AdThis morning, the Met Office cancelled that warning for Peterborough (although it is still in place for some areas close to the city including Northampton, Bedford and Milton Keynes) – however, a yellow warning is still in place.
The warning, which covers much of England and Wales, says: “Areas of heavy rain may result in some disruption on Monday.
“What should I expect?
“Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads
“Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

Hide Ad“Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
“Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
“Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible.”
Heavy rain has already caused some disruption, with Jack Hunt School staying closed today after wet weather caused problems with the school’s fire alarm system.
