The Met Office forecast for the city shows today’s high of 24C being the coolest of the week as temperatures rise to 27C (80.6F) tomorrow and reach 29C (84.2F) on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Pollen levels will remain very high throughout the week as there will also be light winds of around 9-10mph gusting on occasions to 29mph.

The national Met Office forecast for this week said there is likely to be cloud and outbreaks of rain for northwest at times.

Elsewhere, dry, sunny and becoming hot inland with an increasing risk of thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday.

Some cloud is expected to move in at the weekend which will see temperatures drop to 22C (71.6F) on Sunday.

This latest hot spell follows May which was the driest month on record, with just 0.2mm of rain recorded.

Then heavy rain was seen across Peterborough ealier this month - Peterborough has already smashed through the June average for rainfall.
