New Year's Eve weather: The forecast temperature in Peterborough for when the fireworks go off
With December 31 approaching, the final plans for New Year’s Eve parties are being made.
Traditionally, many people set off fireworks to celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of another – so the weather forecast is an important consideration.
The Met Office’s forecast is for a cold December 31 and January 1 – with The UK Health Security Agency already issuing a cold health alert for the East of England, including Peterborough.
The warning came into force on Sunday (December 28) and will remain in force until Monday (January 5).

But what does the Met Office say the weather forecast will be for those New Year’s Eve Parties?
Well, thankfully for those fireworks, it will stay dry at least, with the Met Office saying there is a less than 5% chance of rain on Wednesday night.
However - perhaps unsurprisingly for the middle of winter – it will be cold, with temperatures dipping to 1C – however, forecasters say it will feel like it is -3C, so wrap up warm!
For those planning a New Year’s Day walk, it is a similar picture – with dry weather, but very cold temperatures – at noon on January 1, the temperature is forecast to be 6C, but with a feels like temperature of 2C.
There is a small chance of rain on Thursday morning, but it should have cleared by lunchtime.
