Further disruption at Ferry Meadows in Peterborough as rainfall continues

Heavy rainfall over the past few weeks continues to cause problems at Ferry Meadows in Peterborough.

Large puddles have formed across the country park, which have made passing some areas difficult as well as left a number of car parking spaces significantly flooded.

The Nene Park Trust has been forced to cancel Saturday’s (February 14) Parkrun due to flooding.

The trust has also announced that Fox Play area would have to be closed due to significant flooding.

A statement confirmed: “Unfortunately we need to close the whole of Fox Play area for the next month or so to give it a good dose of rest and recovery. Closing the zip lines is just not enough right now.

“We've fenced off the play area and will be letting it dry out and recover. We're sowing plenty of new grass seed too.

“We know Badger Play is also out of action right now but the new play area there will be installed by mid March so it's not too long to wait...

“Please bear with us - we promise it will be worth the wait and Fox Play will be back before too long, fresher, greener and ready for more fun!”

Some of the activities at the park over the February Half term have also had to be cancelled. The Nene Outdoors Centre will be closed all week.

A spokesperson for the park said: “The recent flooding in the Park has thrown a bit of a curveball at our half term plans, which means Nene Outdoors will be closed all week. But don’t worry, we’ve got a plan B! While watersports, cycle hire and indoor archery are cancelled, our pedalos and climbing wall will be ready for action outside the Visitor Centre."
