Bank holiday weather: Peterborough in for scorching bank holiday as temperatures forecast to hit 27C - full forecast

Peterborough is likely to experience its hottest day of 2026

Peterborough looks set for a scorching Spring bank holiday with the city likely to experience its hottest day of 2026 so far.

Temperatures are forecast to hit 27C on bank holiday Monday (May 25) thanks to warm air blowing from the south.

A heatwave in the UK is defined by the Met Office as at least three consecutive days with daily maximum temperatures exceeding a county-specific threshold, and current forecasts suggest Peterborough could experience an official heatwave over the bank holiday weekend. Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster Tony Wisson said: “The weather later this week will feel like a marked contrast from recent days, with warm, fine and settled weather for many. “While the warmth will persist through the Bank Holiday weekend, conditions will turn more unsettled later Friday and into Saturday, with a mix of cloud, showers and longer spells of rain. “There is also the chance of thundery rain in places. Nonetheless, temperatures should remain warm or very warm through Saturday and into Sunday, with highs around 26°C in the south across the weekend and into next week.” Peterborough forecast for Spring bank holiday 2026
