Washing machine causes Peterborough house fire

A fire at a house in Peterborough was started by a washing machine.

Firefighters from Dogsthorpe were called out at 4.14pm on Friday to Aldermans Drive in West Town.

The fire crews discovered the fire coming from the washing machine and extinguished the flames before returning to their station by 5.45pm.

The cause of the fire was accidental, a Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.
