The data has been released by Little Loans based on Freedom of Information (FOI) requests to councils across the country, and London Boroughs, to find out which have had the most roadworks in the past three years.

And according to the responses Peterborough ranks 22nd, if London is excluded.

Throughout 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19 there were 4,353 sets of roadworks across the city, according to the FOI response, with the most coming in the first year (1,722).

Since then, the numbers have decreased to 1,367 in 2017/18 and 1,264 in 2018/19.

Top of the list is Liverpool with 125,398 sets of roadworks, although comparisons between places are difficult due to the contrast in sizes.

Milton Keynes, which has a population of around 250,000 came ninth on the list with 19,470 sets of roadworks over the three years.

Peterborough’s population is around 200,000.
