Police have said barriers are now working again at the Kings Dyke rail crossing between Peterborough and Whittlesey after earlier problems caused long tailbacks.

Police said earlier on social media: “Please avoid Kings Dyke crossing in Whittlesey.

“The barriers have failed in a down position causing a backup of traffic in both directions.

“Network Rail are on route to fix the issue.”

But officers have now confirmed the issue has been fixed and queues are lessening.
