Passengers warned of possible rail delays between Peterborough and Grantham stations

The warning has come from Network Rail, which says some emergency works are needed to one of the northbound lines.

But it is thought that delays are will only be about 10 minutes although it is not known how long the repairs will take to complete.

A spokesman for Network Rail said: “We are currently undertaking emergency engineering works to the track on one of the northbound lines of the East Coast Main Line between Peterborough and Grantham.

Trains heading north are still able to use another line but some services are being delayed by up to 10 minutes.

He added: “We hope to have this work completed as soon as possible, and apologise for delays to services and passengers’ journeys.”
