North Bank between Peterborough and Whittlesey has re-opened after a flood warning was lifted, but the respite may not be for long.

The warning issued on Thursday by the Environment Agency, which forces Peterborough City Council to close the road alongside the River Nene, was removed today.

But the council warned: “However, forecasts suggest that the flood warning is likely to be put back on over the weekend.”

The Met Office is forecasting heavy rain in the early hours of Saturday morning and a little bit over Sunday, although there should be plenty of dry periods.
