'No casualties' as fire engulfs lorry on road between Peterborough and Spalding

A lorry driver managed to escape unhurt after his entire vehicle went up in flames yesterday (May 12).

Fire crews have confirmed that no casualties were reported after the vehicle caught fire at around 4:30pm on the A16 in Crowland, close to the junction with Peterborough Road.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said the road opened at about 1am.

They said: “Crews extinguished using two hose reels, foam and breathing apparatus. No casualties reported.

"Crews have left scene and the incident was left with Highways.”
