Fresh consultation over parking concerns and 20mph speed limit along Bourges Boulevard in Peterborough
A fresh consultation is set to be launched over plans to tackle parking and speeding issues along Bourges Boulevard.
In light of feedback received regarding proposed double yellow lines, the council has agreed to reopen consultation over revised proposals that would see single yellow lines installed that prohibit parking between 8am and 8pm therefore allowing parking overnight.
The section of Bourges Boulevard concerned runs alongside Gladstone Park and lies between Occupation Road and Searjeant Street.
Concerns about speeding motorists in the area has also been raised and therefore the council will also seek the views of residents on introducing a 20mph speed limit along the section of road.

The consultation is expected to go live on Thursday March 19 and run for a 21-day period.
Peterborough City Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Poverty & Public Health Cllr Zameer Ali said: “Some residents have raised the possibility of speed bumps. Following discussions with council officers, it was agreed that speed bumps would not be appropriate for Bourges Boulevard as they could result in a loss of parking spaces.
“Myself and the authors of the petition previously submitted to the council regarding speeding concerns on Bourges Boulevard have been working with council officers on this matter. Following these discussions, the issues raised through the petition are already being progressed, so it has not been necessary to take the petition forward formally.
“The consultation will go live on Thursday 19th March and will run for the statutory 21-day period. I would encourage residents to take part and share their views once it opens.”
It has also been confirmed that new street cameras have been installed on Bourges Boulevard close to Gladstone Primary School with the intention of improving road safety around the school.
The cameras is set to be installed on March 31 and be live by May 4.
Signage has been ordered and is set to be put in place between the two dates.
Cllr Ali added: “This has been at the heart of the work we have been pushing for as North Ward councillors, working with residents to get things done and improve safety in our community.”
