Strike action on East Coast Mainline called off by RMT


The industrial action was announced after a dispute over compulsory redundancies, pay and working conditions.
The 24 hour stoppages were planned to take place on Friday August 19, Friday August 26 and Monday August 29.

Hide AdThere was also an overtime ban planned on Saturday August 27 and Sunday August 28.
David Home, Virgin Trains’ Managing Director on the east coast route, said: “We’re pleased that the RMT has agreed to suspend the industrial action and continue talks.
“We had put in place detailed contingency plans which would have seen our timetable run as normal, nevertheless this news will be welcomed by our customers and people.”
