A spokesperson said: “As a charity with no public funding towards running costs, Nene Park Trust relies heavily on parking income to enable it to continue to maintain, nurture and develop the beautiful landscapes of Nene Park and the wide range of leisure and education activities, heritage and events. Increasing parking charges by around 10% is in line with inflation and is necessary to meet increasing running costs and continue to make important improvements to the Park.

As a result of visitor parking payments over the last year, the Trust has been able to begin the improved car park at Lakeside, develop our calendar of events, make improvements to Otter Play and carry out important forestry work, among many other projects.”

A map of the car parks can be found on the Nene Park website. Full details of all the tariff changes can also be found on the site.
