Diners at Age UK Peterborough were treated to the session from The Great British Bake Off finalist Ian Cumming. The residents ate feta and spinach steamed buns, Scottish smoked salmon mac & cheese and blueberry cheesecake, all of which cost just pence in energy to make.

Ian has been touring the country with his delicious and low-energy recipes, developed with the help of his smart meter. Since his time on the hit show Ian has turned his focus to how he can help people save energy and money on their bills with their cooking.

Ian said: “I have often cooked to a tight budget, even before having my family, but I thought, how much am I actually saving if I don’t know how much energy I am using? “Since having my smart meter installed I’ve found it so easy to use the in-home display not just to develop these energy saving recipes but also to cut down on energy waste in other areas of my home.”
