Slideshow: Whittlesey Straw Bear Festival
Yesterday there was a parade in which between 30 and 40 dance teams followed the Bear from the leisure centre to Market Street. Then they performed a diverse variety of ritual British traditional dance at various sites around the town.
There was also storytelling in the Methodist United and Reformed Church, Queen Street, with Jo Blake-Cave, acoustic music with Marina Florence, and presentations by Poets United upstairs in the Town Hall.
Today the Sir Harry Smith Community College is hosting two-and-a-half hours of dance displays and music from noon, followed by the bear burning at 2.30pm.
