UKIP leadership visits Peterborough for rally

Leading members of UKIP took part in a rally in Peterborough last Saturday as they target success both in May's city council elections and the forthcoming referendum on Britain's membership within the European Union.

Deputy leader Paul Nuttall, who was among the speakers at Peterborough Regional College, said: “The membership is buoyant.

“We know that if you want to make a real breakthrough into Westminster, the only way you’re going to do it is by having people in the local councils.”

He added: “We believe Peterborough will vote to leave the EU in the referendum.”

The rally saw a leafleting blitz during lunchtime where UKIP supporters attempted to push 20,000 leaflets through 20,000 doors. Other speakers included deputy chairman Suzanne Evans, migration spokesman Steven Woolfe, and Eastern Region MEPs Patrick O’Flynn, Tim Aker and Stuart Agnew.
