Post EU referendum group hug event helps unite Peterborough residents

More than 100 people received free group hugs in Peterborough's Cathedral Square on Friday night as the city played host to a unique event to unite residents after a devise EU referendum vote.

The event was created at short notice to bring a sense of unity to the city and word spread quickly through social media.

Organiser Becky Owen-Fisher said: “Last night we restored some faith into the people of Peterborough with an hour’s worth of free group hugs. Wonderful.”

Crystal Brook added: “Over the hour we must have hugged 100 people. Great thing to be part of and made lots of people smile!”
