Peterborough council ‘engaging with traveller community’ as second encampment springs up

Peterborough City Council said it is “engaging with the travelling community” as a second encampment sprung up.

Now, travellers have also moved onto land by the A47 near Dogsthorpe.

A spokesperson for Peterborough City Council said: “We are aware of the recent camp on the A47 near Dogsthorpe and we are extending our approach with partner agencies to include this site.

“Council enforcement teams are visiting all sites and engaging with the travelling community. We are continuing to work with partners to determine the appropriate course of action and this remains an ongoing situation.”

MP for Peterborough Paul Bristow has been vocal on calling for the council to take action to move travellers on.
