Locoal Elections 2026: Reform will prioritise actions in Peterborough based on residents wishes
Britain is broken. Nationally both Labour and Conservatives have failed to deliver on promise after promise for 30 years, writes Andrew O’Neil, Reform Councillor, Peterborough City Council.
In Peterborough, Council taxes are at record levels yet we see a story of failure after failure with politicians prioritising climate over health and woke over wealth.

In Peterborough Reform will build on and draw from our national policies, which include: Improving Public Services, Reducing Immigration, Reducing Waste, Cutting Taxation, Supporting Local Businesses, Scrapping Net Zero targets and being Tougher on Crime.
Reform will stop wasting taxpayers’ money. The former and current political parties in Peterborough have left Peterborough City Council £478million in debt and you are paying £339,000 every week through your Council tax just to service that debt interest.
Peterborough City Council have overspent budgets by £5.9million in just the last year. Your Council has written off £3million from the failed solar panel loan scheme, sold the John Mansfield Centre, a property valued at £4.6million, for £1 (resulting in a criminal investigation) whilst then paying £790,000 to rent it. £16million of your money has so far been wasted on unpaid loans given to private developers of the Hilton Hotel Development. THIS IS A SCANDAL.
Reform will scrap net zero goals nationally and in Peterborough we will base all expenditure decisions based on necessity, quality and value for money and not evaluate contract awards based on carbon emissions (which is current Council policy). Reform will scrap diversity, equality and inclusion roles, cut diversity funding and eliminate spending on “woke” and vanity projects. We would not support posts such as the “Climate Change Schools Officer” as recently advertised and other similar unnecessary and unaffordable posts.
Reform would promote our shared heritage and national culture, for example flying English, British and Armed Forces Flags from all Council and Public Buildings and not the flying flags that may seed division.
Reform will freeze “non-essential” immigration and we believe residents should have priority to social housing over foreign nationals. Peterborough City Council has confirmed its support for a scheme that would provide the Council £100million to house illegal migrants in newly built or refurbished Council homes. We do not support this as it is Reform’s position that Peterborough should be prioritising the needs of local and British people.
Reform is the party that believes we need to do more to prevent crime and that we are too soft on crime. Reform will introduce tougher sentencing such as mandatory prison time for knife possession and whole life sentences for child rapists.
Reform will prioritise actions in Peterborough based on residents wishes, such as fixing potholes, tackling parking issues, graffiti and flytipping.
Vote Reform if you want to see:
➢ Less waste and reduced spending on environmental, diversity and woke projects.
➢ Better public services, more attractive City Centre and Safer Communities.
➢ Businesses supported with more jobs being created.
➢ Less crime and prioritising of crime reduction initiatives.
➢ Opposition to housing asylum seekers in your communities.
