A neighbourhood plan can establish general planning policies for the development and use of land in an area. Once a neighbourhood plan is approved, Peterborough City Council will make planning decisions in accordance with its policies.

Barnack Parish Council has now formally submitted the Barnack Neighbourhood Plan to Peterborough City Council. This is the fourth neighbourhood plan to be submitted in Peterborough - plans for the parishes of Ailsworth, Castor and Peakirk have already been adopted.

The proposed Barnack Neighbourhood Plan is now subject to a six week public consultation which ends on Friday 5 March 2021 and people and interested parties are invited have their say during this time.

Cllr Peter Hiller, cabinet member for Strategic Planning and Commercial Strategy and Investments, said: “This an opportunity for anyone that either lives in Barnack or has an interest in the parish, to have a greater say over developments there in future. As with any consultation, we value as much feedback as possible, so we would encourage interested parties to please let us know your views.

"This latest plan follows on from three Neighbourhood Plans that we have already successfully established in Ailsworth, Castor and Peakirk, giving residents in rural areas the chance to help shape the future of their communities."

You can view the neighbourhood plan and associated documents on the council's website at: www.peterborough.gov.uk/council/planning-and-development/planning-policies/neighbourhood-plans.

The Barnack Neighbourhood Plan doesn't cover the whole of Barnack Parish - the part of Burghley Estate that lies within the parish is not covered by the Neighbourhood Plan.
