Central Park paddling pool to open in Peterborough next month right as another hot spell arrives
Central Park paddling pool is set to open in July.
The popular attraction will open to the public on Tuesday July 7.
With temperatures soaring over the May Bank Holiday Weekend and again last week, calls had been made to get the pool open earlier.
The council was unable to bring forward’s this year’s opening but did say that it would look to open the pool earlier in future in response to periods of hot weather.

At the time, Councillor Chris Wiggin, cabinet member for environment at Peterborough City Council, said: We understand the public’s frustrations, and this is something we can look at in future years.
"Opening public water facilities is not something that can be done at short notice. It requires equipment inspections, water quality testing, and staffing arrangements to be carefully planned in advance. Unfortunately, this cannot be achieved with only a week’s notice of warmer weather, but it is something we can consider as part of a longer-term review of opening schedules.
"While changes cannot be made immediately, we are actively exploring options to extend the operating season from 2027/28 onwards.”
