Peterborough’s Children’s Centre Hubs are located at the Jigsaw Centre in Orton Malbourne and the Honeyhill Centre in Paston. In addition, Children’s Centre hubs operate from the First Steps Children’s Centre in Welland and from East in Durham Road. Services are also delivered from some outreach facilities.

These services are fundamental to the delivery of the Best Start in Life Strategy, and Barnardo’s will work with key partners to support the vision of an integrated service, across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.

Children’s centre providers look to proactively engage with all local stakeholders including families, local community groups and partners such as health, pre-schools, schools and local authority teams. Barnardo’s is committed to engaging local communities to ensure services are meeting local requirements.

Cllr Lynne Ayres, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Education, Skills and the University at Peterborough City Council said: “I am delighted that the contract to run Children’s Centres has been awarded to Barnardo’s. Their tender was well-researched and thorough, and I am confident they will provide a first class service to families for the next five years, working closely with us to help achieve good outcomes for our children and families in Peterborough and South Fenland.”

Barnardo’s Assistant Director Kat Band said: “We have been managing children’s centres in Central Peterborough since April 2012, listening to the voices of children and families to deliver innovative and responsive services.”

“As a result we already have close links with many local communities and organisations, together with extensive experience and expertise in enabling families to overcome challenges and fulfil their potential.”
