Police appeal after '˜traumatic' rape of woman walking through park

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a woman was raped in a park.

Officers were called at 9.20pm on Tuesday (February 9) with reports of the rape of a woman in her 40s near Waterless Road in Wisbech.

The victim was walking from Prince of Wales Close towards Beechwood Road at about 9pm on Sunday February 7 when she was approached by two men.

She was assaulted a few moments later, both physically and sexually, in an area known locally as the Spinney Park.

Detective Sergeant Tracy Sawyer said: “This was a very traumatic experience for the victim. I am keen to find out who carried out the attack and would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen something to get in touch.

“I would like to reassure members of the public that we believe this to be an isolated incident.”
