Peterborough Morrison’s temporarily closed after minor ‘explosion’

A Peterborough Morrison’s was temporarily closed after what was described as an ‘explosion’ inside - although fire officials said the incident was not serious.

Residents in Cardea told the Peterborough Telegraph that they had seen smoke coming from the store on Bellona Drive late this afternoon (March 8).

There were also reports from shoppers in the car park there was a strong smell resembling that you would get in the aftermath of an electrical fire.

A security guard on hand was informing people that the store was closed has said that there had been an ‘expolosion’ inside the building.

The incident is not thought to be serious as officers from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue attended the scene but returned to their station after carrying out was closed temporarily checks saying that the smoke had been caused by a ‘defective motor.’
