The mini-festival included poetry, music and food, with a large number of shoppers stopping to enjoy the atmosphere.

The event was one of a number taking place across the city in October. On Saturday there will be dominoes with African story telling and food at the Millennium Centre in Dickens Street from 2pm until late.

A fashion show will be held on October 22 at the Dominion Christian Connections in Park Road from 2pm until 6pm.

And there will also be a fashion show at Peterborough City Hospital on November 9 between 1pm and 3pm.

Councillor Janet Goodwin, cabinet member for city centre management, culture and tourism, said: “This is another important series of events to promote diversity and equality in our city. Peterborough celebrates all of its communities and cultures and these events will be a fantastic opportunity for all to learn from and enjoy. “
