Yaxley residents told to close windows as fire crews tackle blaze

The fire is located in a field near Farcet, but the wind is blowing smoke towards Yaxley.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to a fire on Field Terrance, Farcet at 1.39pm.

“A crew from Stanground and Yaxley are in attendance.

“They arrived to find a large muck heap well alight.

“Using plant machinery they are working to break up the heap to prevent it spreading to nearby hedges and stables.

“The smoke from the fire is travelling towards Yaxley, so residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution.”
