WATCH: Whittlesey family goes all-out to create amazing Halloween experience for trick-or-treaters

‘Unsuspecting victims’ are in for a treat at this year’s ‘Stonald Spooktakular’

A family in Whittlesey has taken Halloween trick-or-treat thrills to a whole new level this year.

Tom Clare and his family have spent “months and months” creating the ‘Stonald Spooktakular’, an elaborate fright-fest designed to give horror fans a truly visceral Halloween experience.

Tom and his fearsome clan have turned almost every inch of their downstairs home and garden into a walk-thru fright experience made up of different zones.

“It starts off quite mellow with inflatables in the front garden then, as you come round, it gets a little bit more scary,” he said.

Visitors – or ‘unsuspecting victims’ as Tom calls them – acclimatise by taking a gentle stroll through the witch, spider, and circus (with clowns!) sections.

“It gets scarier as you go - the further somebody goes round, the bigger the chance that they’re going to have something – or someone – jump out at them!”

If they still have the guts, fright fans then move on to the bedroom scene (where the jumpscares begin) and a butcher’s section, which is home to an animatronic butcher AND some truly authentic props:

“We’ve got an actual pig’s head!” Tom exclaimed.

Next comes the graveyard scene where an active skeleton community who are busy walking the dog, riding bikes, and cutting the grass on a ride-on lawnmower await.

The Halloween mad dad told the Peterborough Telegraph that lots of helpers were pitching in to ensure visitors had a truly memorable experience:

“We have live actors around – that’s family and friends who are taking part, [and] I go up on the roof of one of the outbuildings to scare ‘unsuspecting victims’ as they walk past.”

Those brave souls who do make it all the way around are rewarded with goodies and freebies at the end, and encouraged to make a donation to two local charities the family is raising money for: Phoenix Youth Provision and Whittlesey Street Pride.

Tom explained that the family has done everything possible to make this year’s Spooktakular the best yet:

“This year, as it’s our last year, we’ve tried to raise everything up as much as we can so that we can go out with a bang.”
