WATCH: Performing arts school triumphs at National Entertainment Awards
A performing arts school from Peterborough is on cloud nine after triumphing at the regional leg of a national awards event.
Some 55 youngsters from Peterborough Performing Arts took part in the National Entertainment awards at the Cresset, performing a rendition of Les Miserables to an audience of 1,000.

Hide AdNot only did they scoop the Best Dance/Performing Arts School – but they were delighted to be given the ‘golden buzzer’ on the night – earning them an instant place in the international final in America.


The school’s principal Michelle Dean said: “The children were all absolutely beside themselves with emotions of pure joy!
"We got a golden buzzer after our number for an outstanding performance – which means we were chosen to represent the UK in Las Vegas 2026!”
The group performed in two ceremonies for the awards event – and was crowned the overall winner for the north and midlands region – earning them a place to represent the area in the national final at the o2 Arena in October next year.

Hide AdThe school was judged on its progress, the opportunities awarded to its students, exam results, the standard of its teaching, and how it supports students financially and pastorally to help them to thrive and succeed.


Pupil Olivia Deakin also won her category of ‘Best Young Breakthrough Artist’, and has secured a spot at the o2 next year.
Michelle continued: “This is a huge success for the whole school and the teaching faculty who dedicate their valuable time, knowledge and professional experience to help the children succeed.
"We honestly thought we’re were just going to go and be a part of a prestigious evening, never did we imagine PPA would walk away as the overall winners.

I am just unbelievably proud of the whole school.”
