Wartime Britain to return to Thorney for 1940s weekend
Wartime Britain will return to Thorney this weekend for a special celebration of 1940s life.
Visitors are invited to experience the sights, sounds and spirit of wartime Britain as the popular Crowland and Thorney 1940s Weekend returns for 2026 at Park Farm, Thorney.
The event has grown into one of Peterborough’s most anticipated heritage weekends, attracting visitors from across the area who share a passion for history, nostalgia and community spirit.
Held at Park Farm, Thorney near Peterborough, the two-day event promises a journey back to the 1940s, featuring live battle re-enactments, living history displays and reenactors, military, agricultural and civilian vehicles, entertainment, and vintage

trade stands and memorabilia.
Live music and entertainment will be provided The 40’s Home Front, singers Sarah Mai and Johnny Victory and a Saturday evening dance with Sleaford band Triple Seven.
Food vendors and licensed bar will also be available throughout the weekend.
At the heart of the event is the remarkable Crowland Buffalo Landing Vehicle Tracked (LVT), recovered after being buried for more than 74 years following the 1947 flood.
The vehicle has become a symbol of local history and wartime heritage.
For the first time at the 1940s event, you’ll be able to see the engine running in the Buffalo.
The event is designed to bring history to life while raising funds for the ongoing restoration of the Crowland Buffalo LVT.
“This event is all about remembering the past, celebrating community spirit and giving people a chance to experience history in an engaging and enjoyable way,” said the organising team from the Crowland Buffalo LVT Association.
“Every ticket sold helps support the preservation of an important piece of local and national history.”
The event takes place:
Saturday 20 June 2026, 10am to 5pm
Saturday Evening Dance, from 7pm
Sunday 21 June 2026, 10am to 4pm.
