The company that are based on Bakewell Orton Southgate came forward with the donation after seeing a post on the Peterborough Phantoms BMX twitter page nearly two weeks ago.

As the Peterborough Telegraph reported, fence panels were smashed out at both the sides and the base and litter was left strewn across the Orton Malborne site.

This posed a problem for the club as the fences are vital for rider and spectator safety.

The club were also left wondering how they were going to pay for the repairs, given the strain the lack of competitive racing caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, was putting on the club.

Fortunately, Woodstone Carpentry stepped forward and have donated the wood and covered the cost to have five new fence panels installed.

The new fence panels were installed today (August 18) after bad weather caused a delay, and have replaced temporary plastic ones.

Club Chair Ashley Goulding said: “We are very grateful to Woodstone Carpentry. Any time we would have had to spend dealing with the repairs ourselves would have taken away time we could spent putting on sessions for the children.

“Participation wise, things are going really well at the club at the moment, it’s the busiest time we have had. It’s great to get be able to get back to normal.”
