Thief who ignored 'second chance' from courts is jailed after stealing from Peterborough store
A man who stole alcohol from two Peterborough supermarkets has been jailed after ignoring a warning from the courts.
Cambridgeshire police say that Darren Sheridan (47|) was captured on CCTV entering Morrisons, in Lincoln Road, Walton, and stealing six bottles of alcohol on April 22.
Police say that he committed another theft three days later, stealing a further six bottles of alcohol from Asda, in Rivergate.
Sheridan, of no fixed address, was arrested by the spree offender team on April 28 and charged with the two offences, a police spokesperson said.

He appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court the following day and was sentenced to six months in prison – including a part activation of a six-month suspended sentence that he was given for theft offences in March.
The court also ordered him to pay £330 in compensation.
Afterwards, PC Sam Malton, who investigated, said: “Sheridan was given a second chance by the courts through a suspended sentence, but continued to offend.
“I would like to thank the businesses involved for their continued cooperation through reporting any incidents to us.”
