The Peterborough Telegraph is running regular spotlights on dogs that need new homes to support the work of animal charities in the Peterborough area.
The Peterborough and District Branch of the RSPCA do so much to rescue, nurture and subsequently rehome dogs in the area. They have continued to operate throughout lockdown and within a small radius are still permitted to rehome these animals.
Below are a selection of those that have been rescued and are in need of their forever home.
To find more details on each dog and to search for more rescue animals, visit www.rspca.org.uk/findapet/rehomeapet/process.
The RSPCA are funded entirely by public donations and receive no government money and therefore rely on the generosity of the public. Anyone wishing to support their work do so via www.rspca.org.uk/getinvolved/donate.

5. April- Foxhound (3 years)
April is a sweet 3 year old foxhound looking for her forever home. April is a lovely girl who likes her walks and to be active and is generally good on the lead. She is out in a foster home currently and is now housetrained. She would love a home with a spacious garden for her to explore in. April loves to be around people and loves lots of attention and cuddles. She can be a little nervous of new people initially, particularly around men, but as soon as she is confident, she creates a loving bond. April is looking for a home where she will be around people for most of the time so she can build trust and increase confidence.

6. Chipolata- Lurcher Crossbreed (2 years)
hipolata has had a bit of a rough start. Originally abandoned with several other dogs right near christmas and was brought to us here at Block fen. It was clear that Chip wasn't a dog that had lived in a home before, he was a boisterous young fella who definitely needed to learn his manners. After some behavioural rehabilitation Chip finally found a home, however unfortunately it didn't work out and Chip is now back with us at block fen. After some extra TLC and more work we are now looking for Chipolatas forever home. Please read his requirements carefully before applying. Chip is an incredible lurcher cross who has bounds of energy and a passion for life and people. He is looking for an active family who are experienced lurcher owners (or have other sighthound experience). Chip displays common breed traits and needs a home where these are understood and someone is prepared to work with them (these will be discussed in more detail with successful applicants).

7. Wendy- Lurcher Crossbreed (2 years)
Lovely Wendy was abandoned by her owners so we have very limited imformation regarding her life before she arrived with us. She is a young and bouncy girl who we believe will need full training from scratch. Wendy walks well on lead but equally LOVES to run off lead. She will need a large fully secue garden in hr new home where she can let off steam and strech her long legs. She would need to be kept onlead when out in public due to her high prey drive. Wendy is looking for an active home without young children. She does need further socialisation when it comes to greeting other dogs as she can react quite negative towards others when she is on lead. She will also require a home as the only pet. Wendy would suit a family who have sight hound experience and are happy to take on a dog that may require full traininig within the home including housetraining.

8. Sally- Jack Russell Terrier (9 years)
Sally (wirehaired) and her best mate Poppy (short haired) came into our centre as their owner was no longer able to care for them. Poppy has known Sally since she was a puppy and both girls adore each other. You will never find them far apart, for this reason we are looking for this dynamic duo to be rehomed together. Both girls have a cracking character and make us laugh daily. They are your typical Jack Russell terriers and their new owner will need a good understanding of the breed. Both girls are a little reserved and need time to build up trust and confidence with a new person. Once they are familiar with you they love nothing more than all of your attention, Sally is quick to roll over and offer up her belly for a rub. Due to their initially reserved nature and slightly nervous temperament Sally and Poppy could live in a home with adults, who are happy to give them time to adjust, settle in and understand when the girls need some space.
