The Met Office had earlier teased residents that the white stuff would arrive after issuing a weather warning, with snow forecast between 2pm and 7pm.

However, the warning only covered the outskirts of Peterborough, from just north of the A1 at the Wansford junction heading into Stamford, Bourne and beyond.
