Shop owner apologises for worry caused to customers after Peterborough baby goods retailer's collapse
The owner of a baby goods shop in Peterborough has apologised for worry caused to customers after the business collapsed.
Anxious customers had sought reassurances after Peterborough-based My Baby entered insolvency recently after several years of trading.
A number of customers voiced worries about whether they would get refunds for products they had already bought from MyBaby, which traded from a store at the Peterborough One (PE1) Retail Park, in Eye Road.
One customer told the Peterborough Telegraph: “I called 15 times in one day and they would not answer.

"They did not seem to be giving refunds. They still had items for sale on their website.”
Another stated: “There was no communication from the company at all.
"We only received an email when we queried a new invoice coming though even though we paid back in October.”
But the owner of My Baby, which also has a branch in Cambridge, has apologised for any worry and disruption caused to customers.
And he says many of the customers’ outstanding claims had now been processed.
In a statement, Alex Harper, director and owner of My Baby, said: “It is with great sadness that we confirm My Baby Ltd has entered insolvency.
“This has been an incredibly difficult and distressing situation, and we are truly sorry for the worry and disruption this has caused to some of our customers.
“We are contacting everyone with outstanding orders to outline the options available regarding payments made.
“Based on the guidance we’ve received, many customers should be able to recover their payments via chargebacks or Section 75 claims, depending on their method of payment.
“The majority of these claims have now been processed.
“Anyone who needs further information or assistance can reach us at [email protected]"
My Baby began in Stanground in 2021 and later opened a branch at Peterborough One Retail Park before launching a separate branch in Cambridge in 2023.
According to details filed at Companies House, the retailer had five members of staff last year.
My Baby sold a range of products and brands from prams and strollers to cots, cribs and nursery furniture as well as bonnets, teethers, rattles, changing bags and strollers from a range of top brands such as Icklebubba and iCandy.
One of the reasons Mr Harper chose to set up the business was to fill the gap left by the disappearance from the city of long established retailers such as Kiddicare, Mothercare and John Lewis.
