Search starts for 80 plus staff to join Peterborough food factory
Recruitment is under way to fill more than 80 jobs at a Peterborough factory.
AMK Fresh is looking to fill up to 85 vacancies at its newly opened factory in Peterborough Gateway, Alwalton Hill.
The company is looking for about 70 general operatives plus up to 15 machine operatives and line leaders.
There are also a number of powered pallet truck jobs available with the company prepared to train for the role if applicants show the right skills and attitude.
A company spokesperson said: “This is temporary work but all roles come with the opportunity to go permanent with AMK.
“This could be either a really good stop gap for people out of work due to the pandemic or a chance to start a brand new career in a production and warehouse environment.
“There are also opportunities for ongoing temporary work.”
AMK Fresh is part of the AM Fresh Group and works with supermarket chain Tesco to supply citrus, grapes, pineapples, melons and vegetables.
To grow the partnership, it has created a new business, AMK Services, to manage the packing, warehousing and distribution of products to Tesco throughout the UK, and which operates from the new purpose built state-of-the-art facility in Peterborough.
The new jobs will be a welcome boost for the city which saw the number of Universal Credit claimants rise by 606 last month to 23,593 - a rise of 2.6 per cent on the previous month.
