School term dates: All you need to know about 2026, 2027 and 2028 Peterborough term times as pupils and teachers prepare for the final stretch before the summer holidays
Pupils and teachers in Peterborough are enjoying a much needed – and well deserved – half term this week before the final stretch before the school holidays.
Some youngsters will have been doing exams, and may also be preparing to move schools – either to secondary school or a sixth form – in the new school year.
For parents – and, indeed pupils and teachers – those school term dates are all important as they plan for the years ahead.
This year’s summer holidays start for most children on Tuesday, July 21.
Peterborough City Council has now announced the holiday dates for schools in the city for the next two academic years.
Schools must be open to pupils for 190 days in an academic year, and 195 days for teachers. Schools have five training days available to take at their discretion.
Foundation, Trust, Voluntary Aided Schools and Academies are responsible for setting their own term dates. Individual schools may choose to follow a pattern and / or specific dates that do not match those set by the council
