Rotherham fan apologises to Peterborough United for ‘moronic chanting’ aimed at Darren Ferguson - Letter

On behalf of Mature Millers who support Rotherham United FC, I am sending this open letter to the management and staff of Peterborough United FC and their fans, and the people of Peterborough, to apologise to them all for the moronic chanting and obscenities voiced by some of our own supposed fans at the game last weekend.

This increasingly vociferous gathering of morons, not all of them youngsters, indeed some are in their thirties, shouted the most horrid language, mostly aimed at Darren Ferguson, making reference to his father, I am sure the obscenities were heard by Darren and others due to the loudness of the chanting.

Make no mistake, this was not a small minority as the two groups must have numbered at least 100 out of a Millers following of close to 1,500. We ourselves had taken supporters which included females and children who were only interested in supporting the team. Some of these may not return to support us again thanks to the mindless conduct of the idiots purporting to be fans.

I urge fellow fans to point out offending fans at future games both home and away as they are not welcome to follow our team. We as a group apologise for these people’s actions and do not wish to be associated with them. This is not a football problem but one that society owns and typical of the downwards spiral of conduct over the last 30 or so years.
