As the nation’s second-favourite dish (just behind fish and chips), it’s little wonder that there are pubs and restaurants in literally every corner of the country where you can tuck into a tasty roast dinner.
But without bragging, here in Peterborough we really do have some top-class places for a roast.
Earlier this week we asked our readers to nominate where, in their opinion, is the best place to go for a roast dinner in and around Peterborough.
Having received north of 200 suggestions, it’s fair to say that this debate caused a bit of a stir!
Below we’ve taken a closer look at eight of the most popular reader suggestions.

5. The Shed Tap Room & Deli - Unit 2, Sand Martin House
Set in a converted railway engine shed, The Shed Tap Room & Deli is arguably the quirkiest venue in the city to tuck into a hearty Sunday roast. The roasts are served on long wooden trays, with diners then able to fill their plates with meaty and veggie goodness. Individual Sunday lunches are also available, including cauliflower cheese and stuffing balls. The roasts are available on Sundays 12pm to 4pm, priced from £15.95 per person. Photo: PT

6. The White Hart - Main Street, Ufford
The White Hart, in the quaint village of Ufford, received plenty of reader nominations despite being away from the city. The pub's Sunday roasts start from £19 per person, with chicken, beef, lamb and pork on the menu. A homemade spinach and mushroom wellington is also on offer. Photo: Google

7. The Admiral Wells - 41 Station Rd, Holme
With its cosy log fires, it's little surprise that so many readers put forward The Admiral Wells in Holme. Offering reasonably priced roasts from £16.50, this family-run pub will no doubt be visited by plenty of diners over the autumn and winter months. Photo: Google
