Retail giant Frasers reveals opening date of its new flagship store in Peterborough's Queensgate Shopping Centre
Retail giant Frasers has revealed the opening date of its new flagship store in Peterborough.
The eagerly anticipated opening of Frasers and its brands Flannel;s and Sports Direct is to take place on Saturday, December 13.
News of the intended pre-Christmas opening of Frasers, which will occupy space across three floors of the Queensgate Shopping Centre, will be a welcome vote of confidence in the centre and the city.
A spokesperson for Frasers said: “We can confirm that the Frasers store is set to open on December 13th.”
Frasers first announced its intention to come to Peterborough in January last year.
The retailer will be opening several stores in Queensgate across an area of 92,500 square feet.
It has confirmed that its concept store will house an array of aspirational brands across men’s, women’s and children’s wear, as well as a homeware and beauty offering.
There will be a 30,000 square feet Sports Direct that will showcase an array of major sports and leisure brands,as well as offering other brands including USC, Jack Wills and GAME.
A Frasers Group spokesperson said: “We are big believers in physical retail and these openings mark an exciting time for the Group as we continue to expand our store portfolio across the UK and Europe.”
The retailer began recruiting staff for the new store in December last year.
It has not been confirmed how many staff will be employed by Frasers but the group is moving into the space once occupied by department store John Lewis, which employed about 318 people.
