It was expected that the pool and fitness centre run by Vivacity would be redeveloped under plans to build a nearby campus for the new University of Peterborough.
However, leader of Peterborough City Council Cllr John Holdich has revealed that the authority is “looking at the feasibility of replacing it with a new pool and fitness centre in a leisure area in North Westgate”.

The new technical university is set to open in October 2022, initially for 2,000 students with numbers increasing to 12,500 by 2030.
Plans for the new campus in Bishop’s Road were revealed a fortnight ago with development expected to begin in October.
The council is currently buying up of properties at North Westgate - north of Queensgate Shopping Centre - so it can finally deliver a major project at the derelict site after decades of false dawns.
The regeneration will include a leisure component.
