An application has been submitted to Peterborough City Council for the premises of Best Friends Group Broadway, which is situated at 158 Broadway by the junction with Huntly Grove in Park ward.

The plans state that due to a shortage of housing across the country, “the best use of the site would be to revert back to the original residential use”.

Under the plans, the building would have the appearance of a “large residential house,” rather than a “small house with a large, featureless brick box on the side”.

However, it is claimed that this would “not have a detrimental effect on local heritage assets or the conservation area in general”.

Moreover, there would be 16 off-street parking places, including three disabled bays.

The application adds: “The proposals will undoubtedly be advantageous to the adjacent properties by potentially reducing vehicle use to and from the site and by the reduction of noise created by visiting customers, and animals taken to and accommodated within the premises”.

The application will now be considered by the council’s planning team.
