The manufacturer, based in Morley Way, Woodston, has donated appliances including washing machines, microwaves, dishwashers and refrigerators to Peterborough City Hospital and other hospitals across the East of England.

Ian Moverley, Public Affairs Director at Whirlpool UK Appliances Washing, said the washing machines were provided to ensure that treating patients affected with Covid-19 are able to wash their uniforms on-site rather than have to take them home.

He said: “Covid-19 has demonstrated the bravery and commitment of NHS staff and charities operating on the front line of the pandemic, all of which are working tirelessly to support those whose lives have been affected.

“We are proud to have the opportunity to give back to the many services and organisations whose staff are risking their lives to care for vulnerable people, and we hope that our donations will help to support and strengthen the work being done in communities across the country.”

Other hospitals to received donations from Whirlpool were Nottingham hospital, which was provided with microwaves for its break room to ensure that staff can prepare hot meals.

Dishwashers were also supplied to guarantee that their plates and utensils are cleaned to a high standard, as well as saving the staff time and effort.
