Hannah Thompson from Foster Road, Sugar Way, is trying to raise £3,000 for Cavernoma Alliance UK by the end of August after the family praised the charity for helping them to get through a tough time.

Both teenager Hannah and her dad Gary have been diagnosed with the condition which can cause seizures, severe headaches, haemorrhagic strokes and neurological problems such as slurred speech.

The fundraiser on Friday raised £337 with more donations to come, and Hannah is not resting on her laurels with further fundraising events being held later this month at Nene Valley Primary School and a nursery in Woodston which will see the children and staff wear something red in recognition of cavernoma for a minimum donation of £1.

Hannah has also organised a cake sale at Kingfisher Kids Out Of School Club (based at Nene Valley Primary School) and is holding an Easter raffle which will be drawn on Saturday, March 28.

If anyone would like to donate raffle prizes or buy tickets at £1 a strip they can get in touch with Hannah or her mum Julie on 07881696067.

Julie said: “As a family we would all like to say a massive ‘thank you’ to everyone who has supported Hannah and her fundraising, it means so very much to her and us all. The kindness and generosity that has been shown really is appreciated. We are all so very proud of Hannah and feel she’s an inspiration to all.”
