The scheme has been launched in the Morrisons superstore on Bellona Drive, Stanground with the aim of supporting food banks across the city.

A new stand has been placed inside the foyer of the store with packs that shoppers can purchase and once paid for will be donated directly to the food banks.

Each pack is specially tailored to the needs to each site and include items that range from tinned foods, cooking sauces, jam, long life fruit juices, tea/coffee, biscuits, snack bars, sanitary products and toiletries.

The scheme is part of Morrisons’ pledge to donate over £15 million to food banks and community groups in the UK.

The store in Stanground are known for making large charitable donations, including last month donating over 700 Easter Eggs to make up for a shortfall at a local food bank.

A post on the Morrisons Stanground Community Champion Facebook page said: “We are excited to announce that we have launched our new Food Bank Pick Up Packs.
