A Peterborough football club – with 150 players across ten youth teams – is hoping to raise £5,000 for new goals so children at the club can play football together.

Peterborough Lions Football Club was established in June last year – but it now wants to raise funds for six new goals.

The club currently plays its home matches at both Peterborough Lions RFC and Bretton Park.

By purchasing the new goals the club hopes to have all its teams playing at Peterborough Lions RFC together.

The portable goals on wheels, ranging from full size 11-a-side goals to smaller goals for small-sided matches, will cost £8,000 in total.

The club has received a grant worth over £3,000 from the Football Foundation to put towards the goals.

But it still needs to fundraise the best part of £5,000 to continue playing home matches at Peterborough Lions Rugby Football Club.

"We’re raising money for three sets of goals – from 11-a-side, through to nine-a-side and seven-a-side goals,” Darren Foster, who founded the club with his partner Kerry Cassidy last year, said.

"Since starting Peterborough Lions, the club has over exceeded and gone from strength to strength.
