Peterborough friends to take on 12-mile challenge in support of Women's Aid and end with community Christmas celebration!
A group of friends from Peterborough will walking 12-miles across the city this Saturday (December 13) in support of Peterborough Women’s Aid.
The group will set off from Nene Valley Community Centre in Woodston at 10am before returning to the start point for a festive celebration to which all are invited!
The event, which will begin at 1pm, will see the community centre bursting with Christmas stalls, festivities with the chance to enjoy some delicious treats, hot chocolate or even some Christmas cocktails.
The event will run until 5pm and will also be followed by a Christmas carol service.
Maria Thomas, who will be among the 12 walkers, said: “This December, we’ll be lacing up our boots, putting on our Christmas jumpers and walking 12 festive miles across Peterborough in support of Peterborough Women’s Aid.
“For many families, Christmas is a time of joy and celebration but for those experiencing domestic abuse, it can be the hardest time of the year. Peterborough Women’s Aid provides safety, refuge, and support to women and children escaping abuse — and they need our help to continue their vital work.
“By joining together for the 12 Miles of Christmas, we aim to raise awareness and much-needed funds to give more families the chance to rebuild their lives free from fear. Every step we take is for them.
"We hope to celebrate with as many people of possible at the end!”
