Peterborough could experience thunder and lightning on Friday as forecasters predict more storms - hour-by-hour forecast
A ban of storms are predicted to sweep across East Anglia on Friday afternoon (August 21)
Peterborough looks set to more thunderstorms today (Friday, August 21), with heavy downpours forecast late this afternoon.
Peterborough and the wider Anglia region are desperate for rain after an exceptionally hot and dry summer.
The city remains under an Anglian Water hosepipe ban, which has been in force since July 11.

Earlier this week, Anglian Water said that residents in the Fenland District should only use water for “essential” purposes after river levels hit record lows.
When will thunderstorms hit Peterborough on Friday, August 21?
According to the Met Office’s rain radar, storms will begin sweeping across East Anglia from 5pm onwards.
Some areas will see very heavy rainfall, with up to 8mm per hour possible.

While more central parts of the region are expected to bear the brunt of this afternoon’s storms, heavy downpours in Peterborough remain very possible.
Predicting the exact location of thunderstorms is always difficult for forecasters, but Peterborough is likely to experience rainfall between 5pm and 7.15pm.
