Those packs have begun being distributed across Peterborough this week, ahead of Carers Rights Day on Thursday, November 26.

The charity’s chief operating officer Louise Ravenscroft said: “We are delighted to be supported by IPL which is providing us with fresh produce to enable local families affected by the current pandemic to eat healthily.”

IPL was formed in 2004, beginning with delivery of grapes and stone fruit before expanding its portfolio.

Its Peterborough site handles all of its house plants and cut flowers, while its potato and onion factory is based at Westry in March and packs all of Asda’s onions and potatoes, working directly with growers across East Anglia.

It was purchased in 2009 by Asda which is owned by Walmart.
